Start-up: ‘Europe lacks courageous entrepreneurs, but not means’

The difficult beginnings of start-ups in Europe are generally linked to the insufficiency of financing for innovative projects and to the lack of business angels. A point of view not completely shared by Hervé Lebret, teacher and researcher who manages the support fund for innovation and start-ups at the Ecole Polytechnique of Lausanne. In his book ‘Start-up’, he considers that Europe, as compared with United-States, lacks above all young inventive entrepreneurs. This is because of a cultural and professional environment which does not at all incite the young European graduates to take risks when creating their start-ups.
